Registered Tennessee architects, engineers, landscape architects, and interior designers are required to complete 24 hours of Continuing Education every 2 years.
- CE Requirement: 24 PDHs (Professional Development Hours), of which at least 13 must qualify as Health, Safety & Welfare (HSW) and/or technical competency.
- Renewal Date: Last day of original licensure month, every 2 years from original date of registration.
- CE Cycle: Biennial - Tennessee architects must earn the required credits in the 2-year period preceding the renewal date. (e.g. if your original licensure date is September 7, 2020, the renewal date is September 30, 2022).
- Acceptable Coursework: The Tennessee State Board of Architectural and Engineering Examiners does not pre-approve courses or providers. AIA, ASLA, IDCEC-approved courses are generally acceptable but it is the registrant's responsibility to use their professional judgment to determine if an activity meets the Board's criteria as summarized in this post and - most importantly - as detailed on Board's website.
- Reporting of Credits: Providers cannot report continuing education credits earned to the Tennessee Board. Registrants are required to attest that they are in compliance with the Board’s CE requirements on the biennial renewal application. Design Arts Seminars reports credits electronically whenever possible.
- Tracking of Credits: Registrants are responsible for maintaining proof of successful completion of continuing education activities for at least 4 years.
- Audit: A random sample of registrants will be selected for an in-depth audit to verify compliance with continuing education requirements.
- Carry-Over: Not permitted.
