Connecticut Architect Continuing Education Requirements

Connecticut architects are required to complete 12 hours of Continuing Education every calendar year.
- CE Requirement: 12 CEHs (Continuing Education Hours) every year, all of which must qualify as Health, Safety & Welfare (HSW) credits.
- Renewal Date: July 31, every year.
- CE Reporting Cycle: Annual - Credits must be earned between May 1 and April 30 of the year the credential will renew (i.e. May 1, 2026 - April 30, 2027). Please note that this CE completion deadline is 3 months before the renewal date.
- Acceptable Coursework: The Connecticut State Department of Consumer Protection accepts courses approved by AIA under the HSW designation or approved by the Connecticut Office of Education and Data Management. It is up to the licensee to determine whether the activity meets the Board’s requirements and final discretion is up to the Board.
- Reporting of Credits: Licensees attest to completing the annual continuing education requirement on the license renewal form. Design Arts Seminars reports credits electronically whenever possible.
- Tracking of Credits: Licensed Architects are responsible for maintaining proof of successful completion of continuing education activities for at least 6 years following the license renewal for which credits were claimed.
- Audit: All architects licensed in Connecticut are subject to audit by the Board and upon request will need to provide documentation to support the CEHs claimed at renewal.
- Carry-over Credits: Not permitted.
