Vermont architects are required complete 24 hours of Continuing Education every 2 years.
- CE Requirement: 24 Continuing Education hours every 2 years, all of which must qualify as Health, Safety & Welfare (HSW) subjects.
- Renewal Date: January 31 of odd-numbered years.
- CE Reporting Cycle: Biennial - Credits must be earned within the 2-year cycle between renewals, beginning the day after renewal to the next renewal period.
- Acceptable Coursework: Individual licensees are permitted to submit coursework for pre-approval by the Vermont Board of Architects. To do so, navigate to the Online Services and follow the instructions to upload the materials. Courses approved by the AIA are generally accepted but it is the licensee's responsibility to use their professional judgment to determine if an activity meets the Board's criteria. Final discretion is up to the board.
- Reporting of Credits: Licensees are required to provide documentation of course completion on the biennial renewal application. The online "Log My CE" tool is an optional method to track CE hours. Design Arts Seminars reports credits electronically whenever possible.
- Tracking of Credits: Records of successful completion of continuing education should be kept for at least 4 years following the license renewal for which credits were claimed.
- Audit: All architects licensed in Vermont are subject to audit by the Board and upon written request will need to provide documentation to support the credits claimed at renewal.
- Carry-over Credits: Not permitted.
