Licensed New Hampshire architects are required complete 12 hours of Continuing Education every year.
- CE Requirement: 12 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) every year for a total of 24 CEUs per 2-year reporting cycle. All credits must qualify as Health, Safety & Welfare (HSW).
- Renewal Date: Dependent on the last day of the month the license was issued (i.e. if you were licensed on June 14 your renewal date would be June 30 every 2 years after your date of licensure).
- CE Reporting Cycle: Biennial - 2-year period preceding the licensee's renewal date. (i.e. if your renewal date is June 30, 2023, 24 credits must be earned between July 1, 2021 and June 30, 2023).
- Acceptable Coursework: The New Hampshire Board of Architects does not pre-approve courses or providers. Courses approved by the AIA under the HSW designation are generally accepted but it is the licensee's responsibility to use their professional judgment to determine if an activity meets the Board's criteria. Final discretion is up to the board.
- Reporting of Credits: Providers cannot report continuing education credits earned to the New Hampshire Board. Licensees are required to attest that they are in compliance with the Board’s CE requirements on the biennial renewal application. Design Arts Seminars reports credits electronically whenever possible.
- Tracking of Credits: Records of successful completion of continuing education should be kept for at least 4 years following the license renewal for which credits were claimed.
- Audit: All architects licensed in New Hampshire are subject to audit by the Board and upon request will need to provide documentation to support the credits claimed at renewal.
- Carry-over Credits: Licensees are permitted to carry-over 12 CE credits in excess of the required amount to the subsequent cycle.
