Interior Design and Architecture Continuing Education Requirements

Missouri Interior Design License Renewal

Written by Cindy Grant | Nov 19, 2020 3:41:07 PM

Commercial Missouri interior designers are required to complete 10 hours of Continuing Education every 2 years.

  • CE Requirement:  10 Continuing Education (CE) hours every 2 years, all of which must qualify as Health, Safety & Welfare (HSW) subjects.
  • Renewal Deadline:  August 31 of even years.
  • CE Reporting Cycle: Biennial - Interior Designers must earn the required credits in the 2 year period preceding their registration renewal deadline (e.g. September 1, 2020 through August 31, 2022 for the August 31, 2022 renewal).
  • Acceptable Coursework:  The Missouri Interior Design Council permits interior designers to submit courses for pre-approval. Courses approved by IDCEC and AIA under the HSW designation are generally accepted. It is up to the licensee to determine whether the activity meets the Board’s requirements, as final discretion is up to the Board.
  • Reporting of Credits:  Registrants attest to completing the annual continuing education requirement on the registration renewal form. Design Arts Seminars reports credits electronically whenever possible.
  • Tracking of Credits: Registered Interior Designers should maintain proof of successful completion of continuing education activities for at least the current and the previous registration period.
  • Audits:  All interior designers registered in Missouri are subject to audit by the Council and upon request will need to provide documentation to support the CE hours claimed at renewal.
  • Carry-Over:  Not permitted.
