Registered Louisiana interior designers are required to complete 5 hours of Continuing Education every calendar year.
- CE Requirement: 5 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) every calendar year, all of which must qualify as Health, Safety & Welfare (HSW).
- Renewal Date: December 31 of every year.
- CE Cycle: Annual - Credits must be earned in the calendar year immediately preceding the license renewal date, meaning all credits must be earned between January 1 and December 31.
- Acceptable Coursework: The Louisiana Board of Interior Designers only accepts courses it has pre-approved. However, courses already IDCEC- or AIA-approved for HSW credits are automatically approved by the Board upon submission of a completed course approval form. Final discretion is up to the Board.
- Reporting of Credits: Licensees are required to submit proof of attendance (certificates from the course providers) through the LSBID licensing portal each year. Design Arts Seminars reports credits electronically whenever possible.
- Tracking of Credits: Licensees are responsible for maintaining proof of successful completion of continuing education activities for at least 5 years following the license renewal for which credits were claimed.
- Audit: All interior designers licensed in Louisiana are subject to audit by the Board and upon written request will need to provide documentation to support the credits claimed at renewal.
- Carry-over of credits: Not permitted.
